The Starting Point

The idea for fast.site grew out of solving a problem we run into constantly in our everyday work. Many clients with large, outdated shop systems like Shopware 5 lose their web presence as Google keeps adjusting its Pagespeed metrics. To improve these systems' performance without a lengthy migration to a new platform, we built a caching solution.

We had been using this solution on select projects, then developed it into a product: set up in minutes, secure and global, with no source-code changes.

01

Challenge

Many businesses run websites on legacy systems like Shopware 5, Magento, or WordPress. These pages load slowly, have poor Core Web Vitals, and lose SEO rankings as a result. A full platform migration is often neither realistic nor economical.

02

Approach

We built a global CDN with intelligent caching strategies, automatic image and resource optimization, and edge computing. A simple nameserver change routes traffic through our network, the existing site stays untouched.

03

Outcome

A production-ready SaaS product with a global edge network, self-service dashboard, and real-time monitoring. The first store we deployed it on reached Pagespeed scores of 90+ across every page after integration.

Origin Story

From Client Project to Product

01

The Same Problem, Again and Again

We kept seeing the same setup: a large client running a big, content-heavy shop on legacy Shopware and aging hardware. Rankings slip because Google penalizes the slow load times, but migrating a live store to a modern platform is a multi-layered risk. It is expensive, it threatens daily operations, and it drags on into a slow, mammoth project.

The Caching Solution

Instead of rebuilding the system, we put a cache in front of it. Static resources, optimized images, and compressed HTML are delivered at the edge. The origin server is only contacted for actual data changes. The result: load times under one second.

03

From Solution to Product

The results were so compelling that we productized the solution. fast.site makes the same approach accessible to any website operator, in minutes instead of months and without technical expertise.

Branding

Brand Identity

For fast.site we developed a standalone brand that communicates speed, reliability, and technical excellence.

Logo & Icon

The logo combines the brand name with a dynamic icon symbolizing speed and global connectivity. The color palette of red, green, blue, and gold reflects the diversity of supported platforms.

Technical Architecture

Infrastructure & Development

fast.site is built on a globally distributed edge infrastructure with intelligent caching strategies and automatic optimization of all web resources.

Architecture Decisions

01

Global edge network for minimal latency. Static and dynamic content is cached at the nearest point of presence.

02

Automatic image conversion to WebP/AVIF, CSS/JS minification, Brotli compression, and critical CSS inlining, all at the edge without origin contact.

03

Intelligent cache invalidation detects content changes and updates only affected resources. No manual purging required.

Project Insights

Technical details and key decisions behind fast.site.

Existing CDNs like Cloudflare or Fastly offer generic caching. fast.site goes further: automatic image optimization, CMS-aware cache invalidation, and Core Web Vitals optimization are deeply integrated rather than bolted on as add-ons.

The customer switches their nameservers, that's it. From that moment, all traffic flows through our edge network. No plugins, no code changes, no deployment.

The first store we deployed it on went from Pagespeed scores below 40 to over 90 on both desktop and mobile. Time-to-First-Byte dropped from over 2 seconds to under 200ms. Those were the numbers that convinced us to turn it into a product.

The dashboard is a Nuxt 4 application with Radix Vue components and Tailwind CSS. The API behind it is written in Go and communicates with the edge servers through a custom protocol.
